What keeps you motivated on days when you want to stop hustling, grinding, driving and just sit on the couch and zone out?

Is there a place you like to go when you need some inspiration? As the weather gets nicer, we’re more prone to get outside and do things. If you’re not getting on a plane or a train or taking a road trip just yet, what kind of things can you do to get those motivational juices flowing?

  • Museums – if you’re looking for artistic/creative motivation, this might be the place for you. Admiring or studying past works of art can really bring forth your own creative inclinations.
  • Library/Book store – some might think this a bit dry, but if you’re a writer/poet, it’s always good to read the works of different writers; it helps to fire up your own imagination. Maybe attend a poetry reading or a book club where you’ll be exposed to different writing styles or genres than you’re used to.
  • Hiking trails/Parks – nature is always a good source of inspiration. Artists, writers, and photographers can all find inspiration while walking or sitting or hiking no matter the season. Look beyond the surface, listen to the sounds and you’d be amazed at what you discover.
  • Quiet room – if you’re just not in the mood to venture outside, find a room in your house and take some time for yourself to breathe and rejuvenate yourself. Put a sign on the door and warn the family that it’s off limits, for as long as you need. Play music, meditate, pray, read a book or write in your journal. Don’t forget to leave your phone outside! Sometimes allowing yourself to disconnect for even a short while can help you to be more connected when you rejoin your life.
